Married Life

I am just LOVING married life right now. I know I keep saying it over and over, but I could not be a happier bride. Life is so good right now.

Ted and I are looking forward to our honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand in a few weeks. We've also been in looking into Christmas plans and are looking at the Philippines as a possibility. Puerto Galera looks like a pretty sweet place to visit, although I don't know if Ted and I would be up for the claustrophobic challenge of diving. Ted's gag reflexes are ridiculous--no exaggeration--he gags just putting a snorkel in his mouth.

LIFE AS A MIDDLE SCHOOL DORM MOM

Can I just say that life is incredible right now?! Sure it's tiring and has it's moments where I wonder if I really have what it takes to be a smashing success at what I do, but I am loving my life as a wife and middle school dorm mom.

Speaking of which, Ted and I leave for Phuket, Thailand at the end of the month for our delayed honeymoon. I am REALLY looking forward to that. I've got to say that if I could do anything different, it would be trying to work in a honeymoon somehow right after we got married. To jump right into supervising 30 middle-schoolers 3 days after getting married is a little rough, but hey, we made it through .

Anyway, for anyone that still looks at my pathetically out-dated xanga blogs, here are some photos from the beginning of the year. Aren't they just the cutest group of kids? I love you guys!

I don't know if you can see it, but I love my facial expression in this picture. Anyway, playing v-ball with Veronica and Grace this day was so much fun!

Alas, I am a wife and loving it! I have to echo Ted in saying that I am more than thrilled to finally be married to my best friend and the love of my life. I could not be any happier in life than I am right now.

OK, OK, I have been nagged, nagged, nagged to put in a new entry. Seriously, I'm awful at these online journal things. I really do have a good excuse though--I am down to 10 days and counting before I am a married woman. Yeah!

I have been enjoying all of the time that I have been able to spend with family. My sister got married about 10 days ago. She made a breath-taking bride and the wedding was gorgeous.

My two little sisters and I were bridesmaids. They have really grown up and I couldn't be prouder of two more beautiful younger sisters. Amber (left) starts college at Emmanuel in a few weeks and D'Evan (right) starts here sophomore year in high school here in the Pensacola, Florida soon.

We've got a long "to do" list for these next 10 days, so I'd best be leaving. Today we go over to the wedding coordinators house to make some of the international dishes that we're going to be having at the wedding (we'll be having a few African/Ecuadorian dishes).

I can't believe it's almost the end of this school year. It seems like Christmas was just a few weeks ago. I wish I could just slow these last few weeks down a tiny bit and enjoy every last second with my dorm kids, my staff (who are deserting me next year, by the way , and my humble apartment (ha, yeah right, I am not going to miss that too much).

So here's to the memories...

Well, tomorrow is my 24th. I know, I know...to many of you that sounds young. For people like Ryan Cordell, that sounds REALLY young (I'm only half his age!), but it always makes you feel much older when you look at how far you've come in life. It's hard to believe that this time next year I will be a dorm mother and a wife. THAT will feel really old!

Sally's 30th b-day party was incredible. Scottie, you totally rocked her world, you little stud muffin, you.

Anyway, it's such a great feeling to know you've got an amazing group of friends. Life is GOOD right now.

Good luck to everyone as the school year is coming to a close. Good-byes are always hard. I'm dreading them, for sure. Let's make the most of these special 3 weeks we've got left.

I LOVE the month of May! It's been so much fun so far, and there's still a lot to look forward to. A special shout out Sally Fletcher who will be turning the big 30 this Friday. Knowing me, I won't update before then, so happy birthday, Sally!!! Anyway, here are a couple fun pictures from the month of May so far.

A TERRIBLE XANGAER..ER...

OK, so I admit that I am terrible at keeping up with this. I remember in middle school when all of the girls had their "diaries" and to be cool, I got one too. You know, one of those really cool ones with a combination lock on it and gold pages? But after about 5 or 6 months of few entries and feeling the absolute agony of having to write in it, I realize that I was no writer and kind of gave up on it.

I can't believe that April is almost done. Wow, I am fighting to keep my head above water right now--dorm parent plans for next year, wedding plans, soccer stuff, being an R.A....blah, blah, blah...It's all fun swimming, but it makes for an interesting juggling act.

I guess posting pictures of yourself as a kid is all the rage right now (at least it is for the kids in my dorm), so here it is. If anyone is good a morphing, could you put together these two photos of Ted and me and get back to me? I'd love to see what my future kid looks like. We tried this at a Dave and Busters photo morph booth one day and our child came out looking like a burn victim. It took us lots of counseling before we decided that it was alright to have children.

WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?

I cannot believe how fast life has been flying by lately. I just wish I could slow things down a little and enjoy the here and now. I am loving being engaged and planning a wedding; I am loving spending time with the kids and staff in my dorm; I am loving being able to build relationships with the dorm staff and faculty here; I am loving coaching soccer. Not that I would want for life to drag, but really, it has been going by too fast.

In other news, my wedding dress will be ready this Saturday! I went in for my 3rd fitting last week, and it was absolutely beautiful.

Spring Break was relaxing. Ted and I were able to get a lot of wedding/honeymoon planning done and get in a little chill time with the OCKs. They're a great group of kids.

Alright, time to go. I'm leaving this entry with a great picture memory from this soccer season. My dorm came down with banners and stood on the sidelines, cheering on my girls' soccer team in one of their games. It meant a lot. I love this group!

It's that time of the year

Augh, I am just exhausted beyond words right now. I'm not sleepy, just mentally and emotionally drained. I am constantly having to keep my attitude in check here, because I know I'm coming off as a grouch lately (sorry to those of you who have been around me on a daily basis lately ). It's definitely the time of the year when everything gets really crazy.

In wedding news, my corset and shoes arrived in the mail the other day and I am ready for my second official wedding dress fitting in two weeks. I am stoked.

It was fun hanging out at the meat buffet with everyone today. Happy birthday, Scottie!

Although it's definitely tiring, I am so enjoying coaching this year's girls' soccer team. What an awesome group of young ladies. And as draining as they can be, I am still enjoying being the RA of 33 wonderful middle schoolers (you guys are all insane, but I love you just the same).

And with that, I leave you all with a parting picture of the hunk-of-a-man stud muffin that I am currently engaged to (don't worry, I don't really call him that...at least to his face). Thanks, babe, for being so supportive with all of the craziness of the semester lately. I look forward to quieter times, for sure.
